BUILD A HOME IN PORT CHARLOTTE
The city of Port Charlotte is located in the heart of Charlotte County, tucked in between the tranquil waters of the Peace River and the Myakka River. It is the largest area in the county, both in terms of population and geography. In October of 2011, Port Charlotte was named the “Best Place for Affordable Housing” on U.S. News and World Report’s “10 Best Places to Retire in 2012” list. The magazine highlighted its hundreds of miles of canals, 70 miles of shoreline, beautiful weather and natural beauty as some of the reasons why this community is ideal. Port Charlotte is regularly cited by Money Magazine, CNN and other publications as a top place to retire.
Charlotte County’s award winning public and private schools, safe streets, and low crime rates make this the perfect place to raise children. The Charlotte County Public Schools has been designated a “High Performing District” with 100% of the schools earning an “A” or “B” on State Standards. It was rated #4 in the State for the percentage of students passing Advanced Placement exams and Port Charlotte High School was awarded a Bronze Medal by U.S. News & World Report.
Port Charlotte is also the proud spring training home of 2008 American League Champion, Tampa Bay Rays baseball team. The community has deep roots with amateur, college, and professional sports and hosts annual tournaments and exhibition games, including the 2011 Snowbird Baseball Classic with more than 20 college teams. Port Charlotte welcomes teams from Ohio, Michigan, New York, Connecticut, Illinois, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
